Dental Hygiene

The Academy of General Dentistry recommends checkups twice a year. Oral hygiene can change with age and overall health, so it’s important to visit the dentist twice a year to maintain optimal oral hygiene. Routine dental checkups help to detect problems early, which can save you unnecessary discomfort and more invasive dental procedures.

A typical dental checkup at DentalPros will include:

  • A visual exam of your mouth and jaw
  • A gingival pocket exam
  • Professional cleaning of your teeth
  • X-rays (when necessary)

Fillings can repair teeth that have been damaged by cavities and decay. Fillings help to strengthen the tooth and prevent future cavities and further decay. It’s important to fill in damaged teeth early to avoid further damage to the tooth and potential extraction of the tooth. When cared for properly, a dental filling can last between 5-12 years (depending on material used).

Crowns help to restore a tooth’s shape and boost its strength. It completely covers the visible portion of your tooth or dental implant. It fully encases the visible portion of your tooth or dental implant. Cared for properly, a dental crown’s lifespan can range between 5 and 15 years. Once it is permanently bonded, only a dental specialist will be able to remove the dental crown.

There are many types of crowns, ranging from porcelain to full metal. Our dental team will recommend a crown based on your needs. Some reasons a crown may be prescribed include:

  • Restore and protect a tooth that is worn, decayed, cracked, or broken
  • Protect and support a tooth after a very large filling or root canal treatment
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Hold a dental bridge or other prosthetic device in place
  • We use only the best dental materials for our patients so that your restorative dental care is comfortable and looks seamless. Our lab uses high quality zirconia– metal free dental restorations that are 100% white and lifelike.Improve your smile by covering a misshapen or severely discolored tooth

Dental Restorations

At DentalPros, we offer restorative services to our patients. A restoration or filling helps to restore the function of missing teeth, which can be a result of cavities or external trauma.

What type of dental restorations do we do?

Dental prosthesis: Also know as “false teeth”, generally used to improve or re-establish the appearance, language and chewing function after the loss of one or several teeth. These can be removable or fixed. A fixed dental prosthesis is firmly placed in the mouth better corresponds to the natural feeling in the mouth because chewing and speech can be reconstructed almost completely. Typically, the patient gets used to cemented restorations pretty quickly. Crowns, bridges and implants are considered fixed dental restorations.

Crowns: Destroyed tooth areas which can no longer be fixed with a filling can be reconstructed with a full crown or partial crown. The dentist grinds the tooth to be able to attached the crown to the damaged tooth and make room for the crown.

Bridges: A bridge replaces one or more teeth and is fastened to the adjacent teeth. If a fixed dental restoration can not be inserted into the patient’s mouth, then a removable prosthesis (partial or full denture) should be applied.

Implants: Implants are screwed into the jaw bone, serving as an artificial tooth root. It has to firmly grow together with the bone and acts as an anchor for crowns and bridges.

About Our High-Tech Materials

We use only the best dental materials for our patients so that your restorative dental care is comfortable and looks seamless. Our lab uses high quality zirconia– metal free dental restorations that are 100% white and lifelike.Zircon (ZrSiO4) is the oldest mineral in the earth’s crust and it is the base for zirconium dioxide. This first class performance material has been successfully used in hip surgery since the 70‘s and since the 90‘s. It is also used in dental technology. Zirconia is the preferred material for modern dental restorations among dental ceramic materials available today.

The material is free of pores which prevents the absorption of hazardous substances or microorganisms, which makes cleaning fast and easy. The material’s excellent fitting as well assures they are comfortable and promote good hygiene.

Advantages of Zirconia Dental Restorations:

  • High translucency and naturalness
  • Pre-colored or manually personalizable with the patient’s tooth color
  • No black margins
  • Absolutely metal free
  • Excellent health compatibility
  • Extreme solidity
  • Longevity and aesthetics

The high translucency of the zirconia, enhanced by the possibility to color favors the aesthetic and natural look of dental restorations. Due to the zirconia’s light color, there are no black margins in case of age-related receding gingiva, as this is frequently the case with metal restorations. According to scientific investigations, zirconia, an absolutely metal-free material, does not cause any allergies or intolerance in the mouth. It’s also acid-resistant and does not harm nerves, since it transfers heat and cold more slowly than dental restorations made of metal. In addition, they’re easy to clean! This helps to prevent gum disease.

Zirconia dental restorations are an investment for life! Due to the extreme hardness and the high density of the material, it withstands the highest biting force within all areas of the mouth. It does not wear off, so it’s color remains unchanged.
